The South Butler County School District formed a school board level committee which was successful in securing funding for two important projects. Both a stadium scoreboard and a district marquee were installed during the 2012-13 school year and were financed by approximately $90,000 of private funding. To build on that success, the Alternative Revenue Committee began efforts to develop a long-term, sustainable foundation model to support future district initiatives. That process came to fruition in 2013 with the formation of the Knoch Knights Legacies Foundation, a nonprofit organization made up of volunteers from within the South Butler County School District.A $25,000 challenge grant to support the South Butler County School District was awarded to the newly established Knoch Knights Legacies Foundation, helping the Foundation to raise nearly $40,000 in just its first year. In an effort to further support district students through enhanced academic programming, increased access to technology, and access to the tools necessary to become our next generation of leaders, the Foundation in 2014 became an EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) eligible organization. The EITC program generated over $40,000 in funds earmarked for Robotics and Advanced Placement courses in 2014-15 alone. With educational innovations always in sight, the Knoch Knights Legacies Foundation continues to strive through its fundraising efforts toward the goal of making those new approaches possible, instead of only a dream.
